'Bin Bag Vigilante' collects 20 sacks of rubbish from roadside verge - including an inflatable kayak and 30 year-old bottle of Pepsi

A man dubbed the 'Bin Bag Vigilante' has collected 20 sacks of litter from a neglected stretch of road - including a KAYAK and a 30 year-old bottle of Pepsi.

Film student Tom Stoker, 20, noticed the six-mile country road near his campus had lots of litter in the verge.

During his clean-up of the road between Aberystwyth and Borth in Wales he found an inflatable kayak and a bottle of Pepsi dated 1990.

He said: "I describe myself as the Bin Bag Vigilante, I thought that was a funny title.

"I've been picking up all the rubbish I can on the road, it's about six miles long.

"I like to run along that road and when you're running you notice all the rubbish. I realised that no one was cleaning it.

"I didn't have much on so I thought I'd do it myself."

He spent 20 hours over three days picking up rubbish and taking it away - and collected 20 large Ikea bags worth of rubbish.

Tom added: "It was a proper mess, I don't know why. It's between towns and there's no houses overlooking it so I guess people think they can just throw their rubbish away.

"There was lots of McDonald's wrappers, and there was a bottle of Pepsi from 1990.

"I think people do clean it but that bottle must have been there for 30 years.

"I thought I didn't have a lot on and it was something to do.

"It needed doing so I just did it."
