Officers discovered a bin bag containing £20,000 worth of Class A drugs buried in wasteland following a drugs warrant nearby.
Officers found the stashed cocaine and heroin in a bin bag in Cardale Road in Sneinton.
The extensive search followed a drugs warrant on January 22 last year at Baden Powell Road, Sneinton, and a man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.
Officers seized a number of wraps of drugs, including Class A and B drugs, digital scales, foil, cling film, bags, cutting agent and mobile phones.
They then commenced a search of a patch of land located close to the man's house.
Officers noted a distinctive patch to the side of the footpath, which appeared to have been disturbed.
A further detained examination revealed a circular ball, which had been wrapped in a black plastic bag.
The bag was fast-tracked for forensic examination and contained cocaine and heroin.
Kieron Saunders 32, of Cardale Road pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to supply.
He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court to six years imprisonment on Monday, March 29.
Detective Sergeant Chris Berryman led the investigation. He said: "We are very pleased with the result from court and to have a drug dealer locked up.
"It wasn't an easy investigation, but I'm happy all our work has paid off. I'd like to thank the officers and detectives who worked tirelessly on the case. I’d also like to mention the Crown Prosecution Service for their support and help, as this wasn’t an easy job to prosecute.
"They spent hours going through pieces of evidence forensically and ensuring we had a positive outcome.
"Drug dealing is taken really seriously and is something that we want to completely eradicate in Nottinghamshire.
