Billy Joe Saunders open to rematch with "baby giraffe" Chris Eubank Jr

Billy Joe Saunders has branded Chris Eubank Jr a "baby giraffe" after his win over Liam Williams - but is open to a rematch.

The British pair fought in a lively encounter back in 2014 when Saunders handed his rival his first career defeat by split decision.

Eubank Jr has admitted he is keen to stage a rematch in the future but is currently plotting a world title shot after defeating Williams on points on Saturday night.

But Saunders wants another clash with Eubank Jr - and insists he would win the fight if he was "half-dead".

Saunders told iFL TV : “When Eubank can outbox somebody, that’s when you know you’ve had a bad night. His boxing ability is like a baby giraffe just been born come out.

“It doesn’t matter if I do the weight comfortably or not. I could do the weight half dead and still beat him. So that wouldn’t be the issue. He hasn’t got what it takes to beat me. He’ll box when I’m ready.

"He hasn’t really done anything in the game apart from his dad’s name where you can let someone call the shots. I’ve tried to deal with them before under Frank Warren, and they’re very difficult people to deal with. If they want to talk about it, let them get on the phone and we’ll see what they’re offering.

"Anybody with any brain knows it’ll be Saunders-Eubank. If Kalle wants to get involved, no problem. Put an offer forward with the date, place, venue and we’ll get the ball rolling. It’s not a problem. It’s good sitting down, but then you get bored with it.

"I wouldn’t be coming back for a fight that’s not high-profile, that the thing. It’s got to be one of those types of fights that gets you up."

Saunders has yet to fight since he fractured his skull during his defeat by Canelo Alvarez last May.

He has hinted at retirement from the sport but believes a challenge with Eubank Jr would be "high-profile" enough to warrant making a ring return.

The British star has previously suggested it could take an offer of £5million to see him face the middleweight title hopeful for a second time.

Eubank Jr has confirmed he would also be interested in renewing their rivalry but is uncertain what his former rival brings to the table.

“I don’t think much of him at all, as I'm sure you guys know. But is it a fight I would take? Yes," he said.

“The fight has everything, it has a story, it has two top-tier fighters who don’t like each other. Who doesn’t want to see that fight? I don’t know, he doesn’t have anything to offer but the defeat that was gifted to me all those years ago.

"But if the offer is there and it’s the right time and the right place and the business makes sense, then let’s do it.”
