A second former partner of Queensland MP Billy Gordon has told a television program of alleged physical abuse and outstanding child payments of more than $20,000.
Gordon’s former de facto and mother of two of his five children has told A Current Affair she walked out on their seven year relationship because of “controlling behaviours, violence and verbal, physical and emotional abuse”.
The woman accused him of lying to the Queensland parliament when saying he had rectified his child support debts, producing what ACA said were child support agency documents showing Gordon was $20,493.37 in arrears.
ACA’s interview with the unnamed woman, to be broadcast on Friday, follows the program’s airing of abuse claims by Kristy Peckham, the mother of another two of Gordon’s children, last week.
It also comes after Gordon wrote to the CSA on Monday to request an investigation into what he said was opposition leader Lawrence Springborg’s unlawful release of his children’s “confidential information” to journalists via child support documents.
Gordon was forced to quit the governing Labor party over revelations of child support debts, abuse allegations and his past minor criminal history last month.
He denies the allegations and has refused to quit parliament, indicating he will stay on as an independent who would give Labor nominal backing to maintain minority government with the support of fellow independent Peter Wellington.
Springborg, whom Gordon branded a “grub” over what he said were “appalling tactics”, has denied acting unlawfully.
Gordon’s former de facto told ACA she wanted him “to actually man up, be a man, admit his wrongs and admit that he is still doing wrong”.
“He’s lying about his child support, saying that it’s all taken care of. As to being a lovely father to his five children, maybe some kind of fantasy world he is living in,” she told ACA.
She said Gordon had asked her not to speak to media if they made contact with her.
“He used controlling behaviours, violence and verbal, physical and emotional abuse towards me in the seven years we were together.
“I got up and I walked away with my children because that is not a type of life that I want for myself or my children to grow up with.”
The woman was also critical of the response of Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk after she wrote a letter outlining her claims of abuse and unpaid child support.
She said police in Cairns had contacted her after Palaszczuk had referred her allegations to them.
But she took exception with Palaszczuk’s public statement that she had dealt the allegations against Gordon.
“For her to stand up and say that these matters have been dealt with, taken care of, that’s basically lying,” the woman said.
Gordon’s lawyer Andrew Boe has been contacted for comment.
