Rising Scots star Billy Gilmour is edging closer to a competitive Chelsea debut after flying to Istanbul for the European Super Cup.
The former Rangers wonderkid impressed during pre-season with Frank Lampard heaping praise on the diminutive midfielder.
The Stamford Bridge boss has now taken him to Turkey for the game against Liverpool as he looks to gain his first win for the club.
Chelsea were heavily beaten in Lampard's first league game in charge as Manchester United ran out 4-0 winners.
But the Chelsea legend insists he will stick with youth and that has to be good news for Gilmour.
The 18-year-old trained alongside the likes of Willian and Jorginho as he looked to stake a claim for a place in the squad.
He was also pictured during a training drill with France World Cup winners N'Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud.
Chelsea can name 12 substitutes on the bench at the Vodafone Arena on Wednesday night but have taken 24 players to Turkey.
That means one will miss out but Lampard has already spoken about an injury suffered by Kante during the clash with United and may decide against risking him.
Gilmour was kept at the club after impressing Lampard while many of his academy colleagues were sent out on loan.
Speaking about the Scotland U21 star earlier this summer, Lampard said: "Billy Gilmour has had a brilliant trip.
"As a young lad, the personality he has shown on this trip to play two games at the level he has played them is great.
"I just hope Billy pushes on with that this season."
