Billy Gilmour's two-word response as Cesc Fabregas hails wonderkid's full Chelsea debut

Frank Lampard finally oversaw his first home win as Chelsea head coach on Wednesday night.

The Blues thumped Grimsby Town 7-1 at Stamford Bridge to set up a Carabao Cup fourth round tie against Manchester United next month.

Among the goalscorers in west London were Reece James as well as Callum Hudson-Odoi, while Michy Batshuayi helped himself to a brace on his first start of the season.

Another of the impressive performers was Billy Gilmour. Handed his full senior debut, the 18-year-old started alongside Ross Barkley and bossed the midfield.

So much so that Cesc Fabregas took note.

Taking to social media after the game, Fabregas had some kind words for the young midfielder.

"He played amazing tonight," the Spaniard tweeted. "Personality is the most important at this age and he's got it all right.

"Now time to keep learning and taking advantage of these games to prove the coach he's good enough."

To which Gilmour has since replied by saying "thank you" to the ex-Blues no.4.

Gilmour was one of six Chelsea academy graduates to feature against Grimsby and they all certainly caught the eye of head coach Frank Lampard.

"As big as the want to make it for now but they have deserved it to this point to get in the team," he said when asked how big the minutes will be for the youngster's careers.

"Billy Gilmour, fantastic debut, run the game from midfield.

"Marc Guehi, solid and they have deserved their starts for how they train when they are with us and when they play for the 23s.

"They have been outstanding this year and then the young boys who came on as subs, who are still really young boys, just show their comfort on the ball and how they are.
