Billy Gilmour has joined Norwich on a season-long loan from Chelsea, but his mother claims to be such a big Rangers fan that she couldn't touch the green part of the club's scarf.
Gilmour played for Rangers' youth academy before moving to Chelsea when he was 16 and Steven Gerrard had been interested in bringing him back to Ibrox on loan.
However, the midfielder has joined newly promoted Norwich ahead of the new season, but his mam Carrie bizzarely couldn't bring herself to touch a green part of the club's scarf.
When it came time for the obligatory photo with the green and yellow scarf, Mrs Gilmour made it clear she wasn't for touching one particular section.
She said "I'll hold a yellow bit" as Mr Gilmour declared "she doesn't like that colour, she's getting an away shirt!"
Gilmour made his first Scotland start at Euro 2020 against England, winning the man of the match award.
But his tournament ended early after a positive Covid test, with the midfielder waiting until his isolation was over to sign for Norwich.
Speaking after signing for Daniel Farke's side, Gilmour said: "I spoke to the manager here. He called me and we had a nice talk about how he wants to play and how he sees me fitting in.
"Everything he said was what I want to do on the pitch, get the ball down and play nice football. He spoke really highly of his team and I wanted to come join here and help."
