Billy Gilmour Rangers family devotion laid bare as Chelsea star's mum snubs green on Norwich scarf

The fact Billy Gilmour isn't strutting his stuff at Ibrox is a source of massive regret for Rangers fans.

The Chelsea rising star was in the Auchenhowie youth system but was tempted south of the border as a teenager.

Boss Steven Gerrard even wanted to bring Gilmour back this summer, but the Champions League winners made clear they wanted the 20-year-old to remain in the English top flight.

They sent him out on loan to Norwich City, with the Scotland international hoping to get plenty of game time under his belt with the newly-promoted side.

The Rangers connection still runs deep though as shown by mum Carrie Gilmour, who was with her son at the training ground to sign.

When it came time for the obligatory photo with the green and yellow scarf though Mrs Gilmour made clear she wasn't for touching one particular section.

She said "I'll hold a yellow bit" as Mr Gilmour declared "she doesn't like that colour, she's getting an away shirt!"

Gilmour made his first Scotland start at Euro 2020 against England, winning the man of the match award.

But his tournament ended early after a positive Covid test, with the midfielder waiting until his isolation was over to sign for Norwich.
