Billy Gilmour has got Chelsea fans talking as Declan Rice transfer claim is made

Here is your Chelsea morning digest for Monday, November 23.

Patrice Evra makes Rice transfer claim amid Chelsea links

Patrice Evra has claimed West Ham United know they are going to lose Declan Rice in the near future amid reports of interest from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old midfielder has emerged as one of the brightest young talents in the Premier League, and has been made captain by manager David Moyes.

And former Manchester United left-back Evra heaped praise on Rice after his performance in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Sheffield United.

“Moyes has given him the captaincy, so for me, it symbols the future of West Ham. It’s not easy to put Mark Noble on the bench,” he told Sky Sports.

“They know they are going to lose him, because many big clubs are interested in Declan, but right now, he’s the man of West Ham. I’m not surprised.

“I knew this player would never allow his head to get bigger because he’s so focused and so humble, and you can see him smiling - he’s happy, what a joy. I’m very pleased for him.”

Chelsea fans call for youngster’s return to first team

Chelsea supporters have urged Frank Lampard to bring Billy Gilmour back into his first team ahead of next weekend’s game against Tottenham.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who is still building up his match fitness after a long absence through injury, scored in Chelsea Under-23s' Premier League 2 draw with Manchester City yesterday.

And fans took to social media to give their verdict on Gilmour’s progress.

“When will the boy be back in the senior team??” wrote @KumbuMwenda.

“Billy Gilmour that dude is on another level!!! I can't wait to see him dazzle in our new squad!” added @MufasaAmar.

@Abz_ROE, meanwhile, said: “Billy Gilmour’s passing is different level. Can't wait until he's back in the first team.”

Kovacic form bad news for Chelsea teammate

Mateo Kovacic’s re-emergence as a key player under Frank Lampard could be worrying for Jorginho.

The Italy international was left out as Chelsea continued their impressive form with a 2-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday.

And Kovacic impressed again alongside N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount, completing 94.4 per cent of his passes.

Lampard might have stumbled upon his strongest midfield trio, though Jorginho will hope that is not the case.
