Billy Gilmour explains what Andy Robertson said after Liverpool's FA Cup defeat against Chelsea

Billy Gilmour has revealed what Liverpool defender Andy Robertson told him after last month’s FA Cup clash at Stamford Bridge.

The Chelsea teenage sensation was his side’s performer as they booked their place in the last eight with a 2-0 win.

Gilmour joined the Blues from Rangers as a 16-year-old and has been part of the first team squad for the majority of the campaign.

And following the game, Robertson approached the youngster and not only congratulated the youngster on his performance, but also had a message for him in regards to his international future.

Alan Smith full Chelsea Q&A

"After the Liverpool game, I swapped shirts with Andy Robertson,” the Blues star told Sky Sports on Monday morning.

“He came up to me after the game and said 'well done, you played really well, keep doing it and hopefully see you soon in the first-team squad'.

"That was great to hear that from the captain of the country.

"I then asked him if we could swap shirts and he said 'no problem, let's do it inside' so that was me buzzing."

Before Gilmour added: "Everyone knows my feelings about representing my country.

"Hopefully I'm not far off it. I just need to keep working hard and see where it takes me."
