Billy Dodds 'surprised' by Rangers' Kemar Roofe appeal and insists striker should be banned

Billy Dodds insists Rangers striker Kemar Roofe will be banned despite a lack of intent in his challenge on Murray Davidson.

And he reckons it's a 'surprising' decision for Rangers to appeal it when he feels it's unlikely they'll get their way at the SFA hearing.

He admits the Ibrox frontman didn't intend to hurt Davidson but felt it was a red card at the time and the panel who look at it won't care about it being an accident.

Roofe himself was raging that he's been called up and posted a series of poor challenges on him on Instagram in the days that followed, while Steven Gerrard confirmed an appeal on Sunday.

But Dodds thinks it's the wrong decision to appeal it as he told BBC Sportsound: “I’m a wee bit surprised they’re appealing it.

“I thought at the time it was a red and looking at it again I’ve not changed my mind. I think he’s got it horribly wrong where he’s, unfortunately, put his studs right down Murray Davidson above the ankle.

“When I saw it the second time I thought, ‘oft that’s a bad one’. I still don’t think there was any intent to do Murray Davidson but it doesn’t look that clever and I think that’s the opinion the panel will take.

“The panel will look at that and I don’t think they will take into consideration that there was no intent there.”
