Billy Davies among former Nottingham Forest bosses reportedly keen on QPR job

Former Nottingham Forest boss Mark Warburton is expected to speak to QPR about their vacant managerial post, according to reports.

But he is apparently not the only ex-Red with an eye on the Loftus Road job, with Billy Davies and Steve Cotterill also said to be keen.

Rangers sacked Steve McClaren at the start of this month after a run of one win in 11 games in all competitions, leaving John Eustace in caretaker charge.

Warburton was initially identified as one of the standout candidates to be McClaren’s replacement, according to West London Sport, and he is expected to meet with the club in the coming days.

Meanwhile, it is claimed Davies and Cotterill have expressed an interest, along with Darren Moore, Nigel Pearson and Marc Bircham.

Tim Sherwood is reportedly first-choice for the role, while Michael Appleton has already been interviewed, but former Derby County chief Gary Rowett is no longer on the shortlist.

The report adds there is a possibility any appointment could be delayed until the end of the season, after the 0-0 draw at Millwall in midweek moved the club close to securing Championship safety.

Warburton has been out of work since leaving the City Ground on New Year’s Eve in 2017, and Davies has also not held another job since his Forest exit in 2014.

Cotterill was most recently at the helm at Birmingham City, up until he was axed in March 2018.

QPR sit in 18th spot in the table, six points above the relegation zone. They host the Reds later this month, in the penultimate game of the campaign, on April 27.
