Billy Cox murder: Two men arrested over killing of teenager shot dead in his bedroom 12 years ago

Billy Cox was shot dead in his bedroom in February 2017 ( Metropolitan Police )

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 15-year-old boy who was shot dead in his south London bedroom more than 12 years ago.

The suspects, aged 26 and 31, were taken into custody on Tuesday by detectives investigating the killing of Billy Cox.

Billy was shot at his home in Fenwick Place, Clapham, on 14 February, 2007.

He died in the arms of his sister Elizabeth, then 13, who returned home from school to find him bleeding heavily.

A 20-year-old man was arrested four months following the murder, but no charges were brought.

Scotland Yard said in a statement on Tuesday: “As with all serious cases, unsolved murder investigations are never closed and are subject to periodic public appeals and reviews.

“[Today’s] arrests were made following developments within the investigation.”

Police investigating the Billy’s murder launched a new appeal in February this year, issuing a CCTV still that showed him in his final hours.

In the image, the teenager was seen walking with two other males in a street close to his home on the afternoon of his killing.

Detectives have previously said they believe Billy knew his killer, as there were no signs of forced entry at his home. They have offered a £20,000 for information leading to a conviction.
