Sir Billy Connolly, award-winning comedian, musician and actor, is adding artist to his list of talents, having opened a new exhibition filled with his own artwork at a Glasgow gallery.
The Scottish entertainer is showing a collection of new artwork at the Castle Fine Art gallery in the city, which includes original ink drawings and limited edition signed prints.
The exhibition is the third in his Born on a Rainy Day series of shows, named after the day when Connolly chose to start drawing again, buying pens and a sketchbook on a drizzly day in Montreal, Canada.
Images featured in the exhibition include drawings of a man in a kilt, a man with an oversized head on a skateboard, and a man fishing in wellington boots.
“My art bears no relation to comedy or music,” Connolly said. “It is pure and unjudged and I am creating for myself.”
“It is personal and private, whereas with a film, comedy show or music you expect people to be critiquing, watching, assessing. Art is different - it liberates you.”
