Billy Connolly earns over £3m for final stand-up gigs before retirement

Billy Connolly raked in more than £3million from his final stand-up gigs before his retirement.

The comedy legend boosted his fortune from his stage swansong thanks to a string of sell-out shows.

Accounts for Rambling Man, a firm which handles the Big Yin’s income, show it made profits of £3.3million for 2016 and 2017 when he performed his final shows.

Connolly, 77, who has Parkinson’s, retired as a stand-up in 2018 but hinted of a return for a one-off gig.

The firm, run by his wife Pamela Stephenson, had a turnover of £7.7million in 2016 but had cost of sales and administrative expenses of £3.4million.

It made a profit after tax of more than £2.74million and dividends of £2.9million were paid out.
