Billy Connolly back cracking jokes in audiobook of first autobiography

Billy Connolly is back performing., cracking jokes and ad-libbing in the audiobook of his first biography.

The Scots funnyman, who quit stand-up due to his Parkinson’s disease, has thrilled publishers with his narration of the book Windswept & Interesting.

Nick Davies from John Murray Press said: “For anyone who grew up listening to Billy’s stand-up shows on CD, cassette or vinyl, or anyone who had the privilege of seeing Billy live, this audiobook is an absolute treat. He reads it beautifully.”

Connolly has been recording the book, to be released in autumn, near his Florida home.

Sources say he still has perfect comic timing and fans will be thrilled by his stories.

In one, his wife Pamela Stephenson shares a clip where he confessed to always having problems in the bedroom with an eligible mate.

The comedian announced he was writing his own book earlier this year.

He said: “Other people have written about me, this time it’s in my own words.

“I didn’t know I was windswept and interesting until somebody told me. I had long hair, a beard and was swishing around in electric blue flares. He said, ‘Look at you – all windswept and interesting’. I just said, ‘Exactly’.”
