Billy Bragg suffers technical issue during Extinction Rebellion protest

Singer and activist Billy Bragg suffered a technical issue during his performance at the protest.

Thousands of activists are taking to the streets of Bristol this week to raise awareness of the 'climate emergency'.

As part of today's action, the rock musician first gave a talk from the huge pink boat in Bristol Bridge earlier this afternoon (July 16).

Addressing the crowd, he said: "There's a total lack of freedom of equality.

"We've seen it in the comments made by Donald Trump yesterday about women of colour in the American congress.

"We see it in our own country in the way politics is done here."

He then performed in the city centre , joining Extinction Rebellion Youth at College Green at around 1pm.

However, according to one witness, his PA system "blew up" after the first song and the activist was forced to continue his show without power.

On the , thousands of protesters took to the streets of Bristol causing disruption and delays throughout the city centre .

For the second day, Extinction Rebellion Youth Bristol camped at College Green and undertook activities to highlight the emergency.

Meanwhile, older activists will be challenging councillors and the Mayor on their carbon plans at the City Council .
