Bills sign former Seahawks safety Maurice Alexander as linebacker

The Seattle Seahawks have lost another member of the secondary to free agency. Safety Maurice Alexander has signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, who have him listed as a linebacker.

Alexander, a defensive end in high school, played linebacker in college before he was moved over to safety. He was selected by the Rams in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL draft and spent three full seasons with the team before he was released after just four games into the 2017 season.

The Seahawks signed Alexander last March but he failed to make the 53-man roster during the initial cuts. He was resigned by Seattle one month later on Oct. 3, following Earl Thomas’ placement on the injured reserve.

Alexander appeared in nine games for the Seahawks last year, exclusively on special teams. He marks the seventh unrestricted free agent Seattle has lost to other teams this offseason.
