Bills-Ravens takeaways: Buffalo will likely need to make changes in the AFC Championship game

The Baltimore Ravens probably sensed this was not going to go well for them when Justin Tucker, one of the most reliable kickers in NFL history, missed not one by two field goals in the first half.

On a blustery night in Buffalo, the Ravens never appeared to get comfortable. The Bills, meanwhile, put together a TD drive early in the third quarter, then returned a Lamar Jackson interception 101-yards for a score on their way to a 17-3 win.

The Bills advanced to the AFC Championship game for the first time since 1993 — the last of their four consecutive trips to the Super Bowl without winning it.

Head coach Sean McDermott devised a strong plan to slow Jackson. In doing so, he exposed how woefully the Ravens failed Jackson during the offseason.

Oh, and, also: If the Bills end up facing the Chiefs, as expected next week, McDermott will almost certainly have to re-write his gameplan entirely.

We’ll explain below.
