Bills’ McDermott ’In a Good Spot’ With Stefon Diggs After Minicamp Situation

When Stefon Diggs missed the first day of Bills mandatory minicamp in June, it generated an air of concern for Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott.

Even with McDermott later clarifying the situation involving his three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, the reason behind Diggs’s absence is still unknown. Despite the previous friction and flare between the two, McDermott told reporters that Diggs is currently in “a good spot” with the team.

“Stef is ready to practice,” McDermott said, per Alex Brasky of the Batavia Daily News.He is in the locker room right now. . . . We’re in a good spot. As far as the team is concerned, we have a lot of work to do. I think that’s really our focus and it should be our focus. About the team and making sure we’re putting the work out here that we need to put in.”

Diggs’s current status with the team comes after several weeks of Bills players, such as quarterback Josh Allen, stating that the media blew the 29-year-old’s absence “out of proportion.”

“We are in minicamp,” Allen said, per the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast. “We’re not playing a game for four months, he doesn’t show up one day, he’s still there … media just blew it up and they’re still talking about it. Let it go. There’s no reason to continue to talk about it.”

Buffalo held its first training camp practice on Wednesday morning.
