Bills GM Brandon Beane believes Patriots still the team to beat in AFC East

Without Tom Brady on the roster, the New England Patriots’ future is unpredictable.

Fortunately, they have Bill Belichick and most of the coaching staff from last season still in tact. It’s difficult to predict the future for New England without the six-time Super Bowl champion quarterback on board. But, it’s also difficult to write off arguably the greatest coach to ever step foot in the NFL.

That’s why Buffalo Bills general manager still believes the Patriots are the team to beat in the AFC East.

“The team to beat in the East is the Patriots,” Beane said to reporters on Thursday. “And until somebody beats them, they are the team to beat. And as long as Bill Belichick’s there, you’re talking about probably the greatest head coach of all time that was paired with the greatest quarterback of all time.

“So until we beat them, we’ve done nothing, and we’ve got our work cut out for us.”

The Patriots practically owned the division for the past two decades and the Bills have had the best shot at dethroning them in recent history. Buffalo went 10-6 last season and made it to the playoffs for the first time since 1999.

Belichick has his work cut out for him this season, but he still is the genius head coach who brought Matt Cassel and the Patriots to an 11-5 season without Brady available.
