Billie Piper reveals she needed 'crucial' therapy after music career

Actress Billie Piper revealed she needed therapy to recover from the strange situations she faced as a teenage pop idol.

The singer turned Olivier Award-winner, 38, shot to fame aged 16 when debut single Because We Want To topped the charts.

In The Big Issue’s Letter To My Younger Self, Billie wrote: “I was very often in strange, very adult situations that I wouldn’t subject my own kids to at [the age of] 16.

“I was going through everything a teenager goes through, but very publicly.

“Therapy has been crucial to my getting better. If you can get your kids any sort of mental health support, get it.”

She is now mother to Winston, 12, Eugene, nine, and Tallulah, two.

Recently, Billie said she can relate to songstress Britney Spears after suffering similar struggles as a teenager.

Billie said she worked relentlessly to become a pop star and actress, which led to mental health problems and an eating disorder.
