Billie Piper has revealed her newborn daughter’s Bugsy Malone-inspired name two weeks after giving birth.

On Wednesday, the actor shared an adorable snap of her baby daughter, Tallulah, and opened up about motherhood since welcoming her first child with her boyfriend of two years, musician Johnny Lloyd.

“Two weeks ago our little girl arrived,” she captioned a photograph of her daughter resting on her shoulder.

“She has totally blown our minds. I didn’t know what I was missing but it was you Tallulah ... love you Johnny Lloyd wonderful daddy...”

Tallulah is the monika of the character played by Jodie Foster in the 1976 film, Bugsy Malone

In the caption, Piper went on to describe her sons Winston and Eugene, whom she shares with ex-husband Laurence Fox, as “two beautiful and attentive brothers”.

She concluded her post, thanking her followers “for messages of joy and luck and goodwill”.

In July 2018, it was reported the former Doctor Who star was expecting her first child with Lloyd, who is the front man of the rock band Tribes.

The actor previously expressed how she would love to have more children.

"I was one of four and it’s taxing for both parents and kids,” she told the Sun. “I do like the idea of chaos.

“In my dream world I’d have loads.”

In November, it was announced Piper is set to reprise her Doctor Who role as Rose Tyler to tell her untold journey back to The Doctor in The Stolen Earth.

The actress will voice the character in a four-episode spin-off audio series called Rose Tyler: The Dimension Cannon.

Speaking about her return, Piper said: “I love how normal Rose is, and yet really extraordinary. She lived a normal average life but she is incredibly curious and has an enormous capacity for love and empathy and is really spirited.”

Fans of the show will recall Piper’s character was trapped in a parallel universe in the series two finale Doomsday, but managed to teleport two years later to reunite with David Tennant's Doctor in The Stolen Earth.
