The Billie Jean King Cup finals are set to undergo a format change this year, with the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announcing that the tournament will span nine days and feature a knockout round instead of the traditional group stage. The event is scheduled to commence in Seville, Spain on November 12 and conclude on November 20. Interestingly, the last two days of the Billie Jean King Cup finals will coincide with the initial two days of the Davis Cup finals in Malaga, creating an exciting overlap for tennis enthusiasts.

One notable shift in the scheduling of the finals is the decision to hold the event a week later than in previous years. This adjustment was made to accommodate the extended WTA calendar, providing players with more opportunities to participate in both competitions. ITF President David Haggerty expressed enthusiasm for the unique setup, highlighting the chance for fans to experience both men's and women's tennis events while exploring the vibrant Andalusian region by traveling between Seville and Malaga.

Formerly featuring 12 national teams divided into four round-robin groups, the 2024 Billie Jean King Cup Finals will see a reduction to eight teams competing in a knockout format from the outset. Four seeded teams will receive byes directly to the quarterfinals, streamlining the competition and intensifying the level of play from the initial stages.

The ITF emphasized that the revised schedule and format for the upcoming finals were developed in consultation with players, team captains, and the WTA Player Council. This collaborative approach ensures that the tournament structure aligns with the preferences and feedback of key stakeholders, enhancing the overall experience for participants and fans alike.
