Billie Faiers ' step-dad has revealed the real reason he nearly missed her Maldives wedding - he took his in-flight sleeping pills before getting on the plane.

Dave Chatwood was refused entry onto the flight for reportedly being drunk, but he insists he was just suffering the effects of his pills.

The star-studded wedding was thrown into jeopardy when Dave didn't show up on time, and he made a tearful apology to his daughter after finally making it to the resort.

Dave told Billie his "bottle went" because he's scared of flying so he took his sleeping tablets before going through customs.

In scenes due to air on reality show The Mummy Diaries this week, Billie tells Dave: "So glad you finally made it...

"Dad seriously... why did you take the sleeping tablets before you got on the flight?"

Dave replied: "Because my bottle went..."

Billie added: "Cos you don't like flying."

He went on: "So I thought I'd take them quickly before I go through customs."

Then his daughter said: "Do you know how worried I was that you wouldn't even get here?"

Dave broke down in tears as he responded: "I would have swam here for you... there's only one person that's going to walk you down the aisle and that's me."

Billie then added: "Don't cry, you'll make me upset... you're here now."

The show this week is a wedding special and shows Billie exchanging vows with Greg Shepherd, the father of her two children.

She was joined by her sister Sam, who brought along her partner Paul Knightley and their two kids.

In a scene from tonight's show, Sam was shown being whacked in the face by Baby Paul, who almost broke her nose with one of his toys days before the wedding.

The accident happened in the pool, and Sam admitted she was worried she'd be left with a swollen nose and bruising for the big day.

However, it was just a small cut and it ended up being easily concealed with make-up so she looked her best for the wedding.
