Billie Faiers' joy as work on dream home finally begins after neighbours rejected plans

Billie Faiers is over the moon as work on her dream home has finally begun a year after she bought it.

The former Dancing On Ice star, 31, told her Instagram followers that after "lots of back and fourth with planning permission" she and her husband Greg Shepherd can finally transform the home.

Work on the Essex property kept getting pushed back as their neighbours complained to the local council and they had to amend their plans after they were refused planning permission.

On Thursday afternoon, Billie posted a picture of herself being lifted up by Greg as they posed in front of their house with huge smiles on their faces.

"Today is a good day," she captioned the post. "The building work on our new house has FINALLY begun!!!

"We are so so soooo excited.

"As you can see there is ALOT of work to be done and we have a HUGE task on our hands to make this our dream home."

Greg and Billie bought the home in January last year but they've only just been able to start work on it.

They had wanted to build a two-storey extension, as well as a gym, games room and huge walk-in wardrobe.

But neighbours objected to the plans, saying they were "excessive" and not in keeping with other properties on the street.

Billie and Greg had to modify their plans to get the house approved.

She recently said she hasn't spoken to her new neighbours, telling The Sun : "We don't go there much, to be honest, so we've not seen anyone. But it's just not a great start, is it?"
