Billericay Town F.C assistant manager cheekily declares his interest in Newcastle United job

Former Tottenham midfielder and current Billericay assistant manager Jamie O'Hara has voiced his interest in the Newcastle United job.

The Magpies are currently searching for Rafa Benitez' s replacement after the Spaniard left to join China's Dalian Yifang.

Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is on the shortlist while Belgium boss Roberto Martinez and Manchester City assistant Mikel Arteta have also been strongly linked to the role.

United's youth coaches - Ben Dawson and Neil Redfearn - have taken on first-team duties while managing director Lee Charnley weighs up the club's options.

Billericay Town assistant manager Jamie O'Hara took up the motto of 'shy bairns get nout' when it comes to NUFC

Someone who hopes to be on the list appears to be O'Hara, who took on the role as player/assistant coach of Billericay Town F.C in the National League South earlier this year.

The 32-year-old cheekily responded to talkSPORT's tweet asking 'does anyone actually want the Newcastle job?'

O'Hara responded: "I'll take it. Huge club."

Plaudits to O'Hara, it's wishful thinking but don't worry, that's all it is!
