Bill Withers cause of death - Ain't No Sunshine singer died of cardiac arrest

Bill Withers cause of death has been confirmed as cardiac arrest.

The Ain't No Sunshine singer died last month at the age of 81, his family confirmed in an emotional statement at the time.

According to his death certificate, which was seen by TMZ, Withers' immediate cause of death was a cardiopulmonary arrest.

The underlying causes are listed as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bradyarrhythmia.

It revealed that Withers died on March 30 at 10:44 AM at Providence Tarzana Regional Medical Center in California.

When he died it was reported that he had been suffering from a heart condition at the time of his death.

A statement from his family said: "We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father.

"A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other.

"As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world.

"In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones."

The American singer was best known for his hits Ain't No Sunshine, Lovely Day, Just The Two Of Us and Lean On Me.

He won three Grammy Awards and was nominated for four more in his lifetime.

In 2015 honoured with an induction into the Rock and Roll of Fame.

Withers retired from music in the mid-1980s.

He is survived by his second wife, Marcia, and children, Todd and Kori.
