Bill Turnbull to replace Piers Morgan in return to breakfast TV after cancer battle

Good Morning Britain viewers will be having a break from Piers Morgan's morning rants soon.

The controversial host is set to be replaced by former BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull.

The 64-year-old will once again team up with Susanna Reid who he last worked with in 2014 on the BBC news programme before she moved to ITV.

It will also mark Bill's first time back on live television after he quit the BBC Breakfast show in 2016 after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Fans will be delighted to see Bill back on screen at the end of the month when the takes to the breakfast panel alongside Susanna.

Bill will be on the other side of the table later this month (ITV)

He said in an interview with the Mirror: "I'm thrilled to be working with Susanna again and really looking forward to being on Good Morning Britain.

"We didn't work together long enough and we got on so well. I was sad when she left at short notice. So for her to ask me to sit alongside her is very exciting."

Bill added: "I'm in two minds about the early mornings. On one hand, it's great to be back doing live television. The other part of me thinks: 'What on earth am I doing? Having sworn never to do breakfast television again!'

Bill will be back presenting with Susanna for the first time in six years (BBC)

"But here I am doing it and it's only in the short term."

His stint on Good Morning Britain will begin on February 24 but fans of Piers need not worry as he's just off on holiday and will be back in March.

Bill added when asked how his style is different to Piers: "Answering that would put me on thin ice, on deep water! But I don't have such strong opinions as Piers and I don't voice them as much as he likes to."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
