Bill Turnbull replacing Piers Morgan on GMB in reunion with 'old pal' Susanna Reid

Good Morning Britain star Susanna Reid will be reunited with her former BBC Breakfast co host Bill Turnbull next week when he steps in as guest presenter.

The 65-year-old breakfast television veteran will present alongside Susanna from Monday 24th until Wednesday 26th May, having previously guest hosted the show in February 2020 while Piers Morgan was away.

He formerly hosted BBC breakfast from 2001-2016, with Susanna, as well as hosting Songs of Praise and gameshow Think Tank, and now hosts a radio show on Classic FM.

Of his exciting new appointment, Bill said: "I am very pleased to be back presenting on GMB, especially as I get to be reunited with my old pal Susanna."

Susanna said: "I am delighted Bill is back in the presenter chair at the GMB desk. He has been a beloved favourite of breakfast television viewers for years and a good friend of mine."

Neil Thompson, Good Morning Britain's editor, added: "I'm thrilled that Bill is rejoining us behind the GMB desk.

"It's not just his brilliant and enduring onscreen partnership with Susanna that makes its mark, it's his relationship with the audience in general, one based on authenticity, authority, warmth, humour and trust."

With former host Piers quitting earlier this year after a row about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Oprah Winfrey interview, guest hosts including Alastair Campbell and Adil Ray have been at the helm on an interim basis.

Richard Madeley will also be guest hosting next month, and has thrown his hat in the ring for a permanent slot on the ITV programme.

He told The Sun : "It’s a good show to do. It suits me and, yeah, I think I suit it...

"Whether I’m going to be asked to take over, I have no idea. I have had no approach at any level formally or informally."

Richard is the current bookies favourite to permanently replace Piers, with Adil, Ranvir Singh, Ben Shephard and Jeremy Clarkson amongst those also thought to be in the running.

Piers' next movements are yet unknown, though he is predicted to either be joining GB News imminently, or creating his own new breakfast show.

* Good Morning Britain weekdays from 6am on ITV and on ITV Hub
