Bill Turnbull discusses utilising 'cannabis products' in continued cancer battle

Bill Turnbull has opened up about using spices, garlic, and ‘cannabis’ products to help in his fight against prostate cancer.

The 65-year-old TV host was diagnosed with the disease in November 2017 – and went public with the news in March the following year.

The star – who famously fronted BBC Breakfast News for decades – has been undergoing treatment since his diagnosis and is keeping an active and positive outlook despite his cancer being incurable.

And while Bill has been using the latest technological methods to fight the disease and prolong his life, he reveals he has been turning to some slightly more alternative treatments away from the world of traditional medicine.

Bill Turnbull has discussed some of the natural remedies he has investigate during his cancer battle (PA)

In an interview with The Sun, Bill explained that he has introduced rigorous exercise, and different remedies to continue his fight.

He explained: “Exercise is hugely important and yoga is very good for your mental health. I take probably too many different supplements — turmeric, berberine, a spoonful of black seed oil, which is like tar soaked in liquid, a sea fish oil and a teaspoon of my own honey.”

He continued: “I take CBD, the legal form of cannabis, and the capsules are made from hemp.”

And added, to the distress of his wife, Sarah: “I also eat two cloves of raw garlic. It’s good for the blood but it’s not so good for making friends — and my wife has taken to kissing me in rather a different way now!”

As well as the natural remedies, Bill has been using an £8,000 oxygen chamber to help fight the disease.

The device is a favourite of premiership footballers and allows users to breath in pure oxygen while inside the pressurised chamber.

By inhaling purer oxygen, it allows the body to carry more oxygen around the body – with the intention of stimulating healing.

The TV star is using the device as well as using a treatment called Zoladex – which is used specifically to fight prostate cancer in men.

Bill said: “I now have an oxygen tank here in the house which I use every day, a hyperbaric tank. It’s meant to be good for healing muscles and everything, but I find it very therapeutic. I feel a lot better when I come out.”
