Bill Russell schooled Perk on Twitter on historic NBA athleticism

Boston Celtics Hall of Fame big man Bill Russell had a few words to say about Kendrick Perkins claiming LeBron James as the most athletic player in NBA history Tuesday.

The 2008 NBA champion with the Celtics shared a video of his later Cleveland teammate LeBron James pulling off an absurdly athletic leap, eliciting the claim from Perkins.

Russell appeared in the younger ex-Celtic’s mentions disputing the assertion, noting he had actually stayed out of the 1956 Olympics as a high jump contestant given the international friendly multisport competition only allowed participants to choose one sport to compete in.

Literally a world class athlete, Russell recounted how he had been ranked No. 2 in the United States at the high jump and seventh overall in the world by Track and Field News at the time.

As if to rub it in just a little bit further, the Celtics legend shared a clip of himself leaping over another player in shades of Vince Carter — or do we have that backwards, chronologically speaking?

As Twitter user James J. Higgins II commented, “You just got hit with 11 rings,” Perk!
