Bill Pullman hits back at Trump for tweeting clip of himself giving Independence Day speech

Bill Pullman has dismissed a recent tweet by Donald Trump, which shows the president edited into the star’s 1996 film Independence Day.

In the video, Trump’s face has been superimposed onto Pullman’s character as he gives an impassioned speech as the US president.

“We’re fighting for our right to live, to exist,” goes the monologue.

“We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive.”

Trump’s face is not the only one superimposed onto the iconic clip, which also features Ted Cruz, Donald Trump Jr and Fox News personalities Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity.

Responding to the tweet, Pullman told The Hollywood Reporter: "My voice belongs to no one but me, and I’m not running for president – this year.”

In the film, Pullman’s character President Whitmore delivers a speech to troops before their attack on alien invaders.
