Bill O’Brien emphasizes Texans are far from a finish product

On Sunday, the Houston Texans bested the Kansas City Chiefs to the tune of a 31-24 win at Arrowhead. However, the game wasn’t all pretty for the Texans’ end.

“I think there’s certain things we need to do better in all three phases,” said Texans coach Bill O’Brien on Monday.

The Texans turned the ball over three times, earned 10 penalties for 70 yards, missed two kicks and whiffed on their fair share of tackles.

“I think we need to tackle better on defense,” O’Brien continued. “I think that, going over to offense, we committed penalties in the red area again. Ball security, like I just said.”

Luckily, the Texans are yet to reach the mid-way point of the season. They are 4-2 after six weeks and are on a two-game win streak. Of course, that won’t stop them from seeking improvement.

“So, there’s a lot to improve on. There’s a lot to improve on,” said O’Brien. “It’s game six. It’s a good job, good win, but we’ve got a lot to work on.”

Next week, the Texans will face the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Field. Their improvement will have to show then, as the Colts are 3-2 and, like Houston, have aspirations of the playoffs and more.
