Bill Murray 'threw fans' phones off a restaurant rooftop'

Hollywood legend Bill Murray reportedly received a stern talking to by police after he angrily threw some fans phones off a restaurant rooftop after they tried to take pictures of the star.

The Groundhog Day star was relaxing on at the Starlight Rooftop Lounge at the Vesuvio Restaurant in Carmel California, when they started snapping him.

Owner Scott Pepe told the TMZ website that Murray wasn’t drinking but had become annoyed when the starstruck patrons flashes started going off less than 10 feet away from him.

Furious at the intrusion, Murray grabbed their phones and threw them off the second story rooftop, he said, adding that he’d barred the use of phones and cameras at popular celebrity hang out

Police were called but the star is alleged to have slipped out before they arrived.     

But after they caught up with, he offered to pay for the damage to the phones –something the owners were happy with, so no charges were pressed.
