Bill Murray the latest celebrity to visit Ireland as he films unusual project

Hollywood actor Bill Murray is hoping to 'putt' popular Irish amenities on the map when he films his upcoming project.

The 'Lost in Translation' star will no doubt be called upon to recite a cúpla focal during his visit to Ireland this week.

He landed on Irish soil in recent days to film a new season of a golf series called 'The Links Life'.

The golf travel documentary, presented by author Tom Coyne, will highlight some of Ireland's top golf courses.

Murray and Coyne will play a number of courses across the island with the aim of showing international viewers that Irish greenways are way above par.

Among the locations being visited are: Druids Glen, the O’Meara course at Carton House, Carne Golf Links, Portsalon, the new St Patrick’s Links course at Rosapenna, Cruit Island, Narin and Portnoo, Enniscrone, Connemara, Galway Bay Golf Resort and Ballybunion.

The duo were already spotted filming their first course today in the Druids Glen Resort in Co Wicklow.

The series will air on YouTube and other major streaming platforms and filming is supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

Niall Gibbons, Chief Executive of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted to support the filming of The Links Life featuring Bill Murray.

"It is a really great way to showcase Ireland and some of our top golf courses. Our aim is to remind viewers that Ireland offers some of the very best golf in the world, as well as spectacular scenery and fantastic experiences.

"The episodes filmed here will help ensure that Ireland stays ‘top of mind’ among golfers in the US and elsewhere around the world.”

It follows the arrival of several well-known stars in Ireland in recent months.

Yesterday, Black Widow star Florence Pugh thanked the nation for being "so generous and welcoming".

She is here to film her upcoming movie 'The Wonder' in Wicklow, and she has even enjoyed a Guinness or two since she landed.

Among the other celebs spotted here recently while filming TV and movie projects were Patrick Dempsey, Amy Adams, Maya Rudolph, Hugh Grant and Matt Damon.
