Bill Murray enters local raffle to win signed Mayo jersey as he continues tour of Ireland

Move over Matt Damon and your Supervalu bag, because Ireland has a new favourite adopted celebrity - the legendary Bill Murray.

The 'Ghostbusters' star landed on Irish soil in recent weeks to film a new season of a golf series called 'The Links Life'.

The golf travel documentary, presented by author Tom Coyne, will highlight some of Ireland's top courses.

Murray and Coyne will play a number of courses across the island with the aim of showing international viewers that Irish greenways are way above par.

Among the locations being visited are: Druids Glen, the O’Meara course at Carton House, Carne Golf Links, Portsalon, the new St Patrick’s Links course at Rosapenna, Cruit Island, Narin and Portnoo, Enniscrone, Connemara, Galway Bay Golf Resort and Ballybunion.

Having already played a couple of the courses, Murray was in Enniscrone on Sunday to take in the sights and sounds.

And, in typically Irish fashion, while he was there, he entered a raffle to win a signed Mayo jersey.

Yes, really.

In a clip posted on Twitter, Murray can be seen plugging the raffle, which is in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.

Speaking in Enniscrone to a lady called Jillian, who is organising the draw, Murray says: "We're over here in Enniscrone and I just want to say that I support Irish coffee, is that right?"

He continues: "And I support Jingles' draw. She's going with Jingles now because Jillian just ain't getting it done. She's not getting it done any longer so she's going with Jingles. If that's not the holiday spirit, I don't know what is.

"Good luck with the raffle, I'm in with a fiver."

The draw can be entered here.
