Bill Murray and JP McManus take in hurling quarter-final double header in Thurles

American actor Bill Murray and businessman JP McManus were just two high profile names that took in this afternoon's All Ireland Senior Hurling Championship Quarter-Finals at Semple Stadium in Thurles.

Murray, who starred in classic films such as 'Ghostbusters', 'Lost in Translation' and 'Groundhog Day' was spotted taking in Cork's defeat to Galway and Clare's victory over Wexford alongside Irish businessman and racehorse owner JP McManus. McManus of course, has links to Limerick GAA and had eyes on Galway, who will be The Treaty's semi-final opponents in a couple of weeks.

McManus and Murray weren't the only big names in Thurles, as Taoiseach Michael Martin also took in his beloved Cork's loss to Galway. Unlike the last time he watched Cork, the Taoiseach didn't tweet random photos of nature scenes.

Murray is a frequent visitor to Ireland and is also an avid golfer. Last year, Murray played rounds at Druids Glen, Rosapenna and Ballybunion as part of a partnership with Irish tourism organisation Fáilte Ireland.

And with JP McManus' Pro-Am golf tournament at Adare Manor set to take place on July 4th and July 5th, perhaps Murray will make an appearance at the event alongside the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

McIlroy and Woods are just two of a plethora of stars set to appear at the event. The Pro-am, which takes place just a week before The Open at St Andrews, will feature 20 of the world's top 31 golfers, with Collin Morikawa, Jon Rahm and Shane Lowry set to appear as well.
