Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor will be given at least another game as the Bears’ play-caller, coach Matt Nagy said Tuesday.
The Bears posted only 149 yards of offense, the lowest number of the Nagy era, and had only 32 yards in the second half of Monday night’s 19-13 loss to the Vikings.
“I don’t think it’s in a good position to give him one game, and this happens, and then all of a sudden you’re going back the other way,” Nagy said. “I expect him to be calling the plays.”
Nagy vowed to work with Lazor during the bye week to make improvements. The Bears’ next game is in 12 days at the Packers.
Seeking a spark, Nagy haded the play-calling duties to Lazor — who’d served in that role with the Dolphins and Bengals — last week.
“It’s not easy your first time,” Nagy said. “Trust me, Bill Lazor’s a competitor. He cares. It was hard on him last night after the game. It’s hard on him this morning.”
