Bill Kenwright promises 'inspirational' Everton fan Carlo Ancelotti meeting after social media plea

Everton chairman Bill Kenwright sent an 'inspirational' supporter a personal letter and promise of meeting Carlo Ancelotti after he appealed for friends on social media.

Evertonian Michael Dullaghan, a 41-year-old fan with down syndrome, posted a heartfelt message to Twitter earlier this week.

"I support Everton [but] hardly have any friends on here....I'm being friendly, I like to talk to anybody, cheers."

The post was replied to by almost 2,000 kind-hearted Everton supporters and football fans in general and his following on the popular website grew to more than 13,000.

Kenwright was shown the post and despite not using Twitter, penned an 'old-school' letter to Dullaghan which he sent along with a hamper of Everton kits.

"Hello Michael," the message from Kenwright begins.

"What a wonderful Evertonian you are!

"When I was shown your message on Twitter I just knew that Blues from all over the world would answer the call and make contact with you - and from the last update I received, you had more than 13,000 Twitter followers!

"How fantastic!

"I don't do Twitter unfortunately, but I hope you and I can still be good friends. I am 'old school' and prefer to write a letter!

"I am sure that you've enjoyed the start to the season under Carlo Ancelotti and, in the not too distant future when times are different and we are back to normal, I would love you to come to our training ground at USM Finch Farm to meet him and the players.

"They would love to see you and maybe you'll get some of them to follow you on Twitter too. Perhaps you can wear some of the kits or training gear I've included in your hamper for all the selfies you'll be able to take.

"Michael, you are an inspiration to us all. In difficult times you have shown the world that we are just one big family at Everton and that once you support the Blues you are never, ever short of friends."

"We are building something important. I don't know if it will lead to winning something in the short term, but I know for sure that it is a right path.

"Even from the outside, seeing Inter, you get the idea of a solid structure unlike in other years. This gives me happiness."
