Bill de Blasio says Trump not 'welcome back in New York' even if he loses election

NEW YORK _ Bill de Blasio has a message for Trump: Stay in D.C., Donnie.

The mayor extended his feud with President Donald Trump for another day by blasting the president as out of touch with life in the Big Apple.

"He doesn't understand New York City," de Blasio said Thursday night. "And when his presidency is over, really soon, he will not be welcome back in New York City."

De Blasio challenged Trump to a debate about New York issues, knowing that the president is unlikely to agree anytime soon.

Trump has been taunting de Blasio for months as the "worst mayor ever" and escalated his attacks when Hizzoner launched his much-mocked run for the Democratic presidential nomination.

The attacks suit de Blasio just fine as they underline his claim to be able to get under Trump's skin.

The odd couple resumed their frenemy fight this week when Trump called on de Blasio to get tough with water-tossing youths harassing NYPD cops. That sparked de Blasio's "not welcome" jab.

"Crime's gone down year after year in New York City and it's not just because you finally left town," de Blasio wrote on Twitter.

Trump has surprised some advisers and friends by spending almost no time in the city since moving to the White House after the 2016 election. First lady Melania Trump and their son, Barron, stayed behind in their Trump Tower apartment but moved to Washington, D.C., where Barron now attends school.
