Shamed TV star Bill Cosby has said his wife and daughter have not visited him in prison once since he was jailed.
The former Cosby Show actor said he does not want his family “in that environment” at the Pennsylvania Prison.
Cosby is serving a three to 10 year sentence after the pensioner was convicted for a sexual assault in 2004.
A spokesman for the 81-year-old said he considers himself a “political prisoner”, much like his heroes Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.
Spokeman Andrew Wyatt said Cosby won’t express remorse for his crime, even if that leaves him to serve the 10-year maximum sentence.
Cosby has insisted the assault he was convicted on was consensual.
The star has recently been moved to a general population unit in prison, after he spent about four months in special housing.
A state prison spokeswoman says Cosby has a single cell and is not on a ward for older inmates.
