Bill Clinton has issued a stern response just hours after he appeared in multiple photographs released in the latest batch of the Epstein files.
The Trump administration began releasing documents relating to the convicted sex offender earlier today (local time). While there’s still “hundreds of thousands” more files to come, Clinton featured prominently in the most recent tranche.
In the photos — which do not imply any wrongdoing — the former president was pictured swimming in a pool alongside Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell and another woman with a redacted face.

Another image featured Clinton in a hot tub, while others saw him posing with Michael Jackson, Kevin Spacey and Mick Jagger, who are just some of the dozens of celebrities who were mentioned or pictured in the newly released files.
Elsewhere in the files, a painting of Clinton in a blue dress is seen hanging in the front entrance of Jeffrey Epstein’s New York apartment.

Clinton has now reacted to the files’ release through his Deputy Chief of Staff Angel Ureña, who shared a lengthy statement on social media accusing the Trump administration of “shielding themselves from what comes next”.
“The White House hasn’t been hiding these files for months only to dump them late on a Friday to protect Bill Clinton,” he said.
“This is about shielding themselves from what comes next, or from what they’ll try and hide forever. So they can release as many grainy 20-plus-year-old photos as they want, but this isn’t about Bill Clinton. Never has [been], never will be,” Ureña wrote.
Elsewhere in the statement, Ureña claimed Clinton was among the people who “knew nothing” of Epstein’s crimes and discontinued a relationship once they came to light.
“There are two types of people here. The first group knew nothing and cut Epstein off before his crimes came to light. The second group continued relationships with him after. We’re in the first,” Clinton’s spokesperson said.
“No amount of stalling by people in the second group will change that. Everyone, especially MAGA, expects answers, not scapegoats,” he added.

It’s not the first time Clinton’s name has circled Epstein’s.
Last month, during an earlier batch of released files, many thought Clinton’s nickname “Bubba” was being referenced in a 2018 email exchange between Epstein and his brother, Mark Epstein.
Mark later clarified that “Bubba” was not Clinton, but stopped short of revealing the identity behind the nickname.
As it stands, the ongoing release of the files is only a fraction of what’s to come.
Hours before their release, US Deputy Attorney-General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department would reveal “several hundred thousand” documents today as well as “several hundred thousand more” over the “next couple of weeks”, per the ABC.

It all comes as the result of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was spearheaded by a US congressional committee and is seeking to uncover all the ties, and alleged cover-ups, relating to Epstein.
Trump initially pushed back against the congressional efforts and described them as a “Democrat hoax”. He later backflipped on that position and called for the immediate release of the documents, saying “it’s time to move on from this”.
