Bill Callahan speaks on Trent Williams rumors

Washington Redskins interim coach Bill Callahan isn’t gun shy about addressing the Trent Williams topic.

Williams’ name has come up the closer the NFL inches to the trade deadline. But for Callahan, he simply hasn’t heard much.

Lake Lewis Jr. of SportsJourney captured the scene: “Callahan said in regards to Trent Williams trade rumors that he know nothing of the talks or comments regarding Cleveland’s John Dorsey. He did say he’s for improving the team ‘by any means necessary.’”

Granted, former Redskins coach Jay Gruden has hinted he wasn’t always on the same page as the front office, so such a line of thinking might apply to Callahan too. But this wouldn’t be the first time someone from the organization has made it clear they don’t want to move the star left tackle.

The longer this drags out, the more it seems like Williams is intent on his holdout and the Redskins are equally intent on moving him.

If a deal does end up happening, it will probably be right at the deadline and Callahan won’t be at the podium talking about it.
