Bill Callahan says Dwayne Haskins is 3rd-string QB; Case Keenum or Colt McCoy will start

Many people think that Jay Gruden was fired by the Washington Redskins because of his unwillingness to play rookie quarterback Dwayne Haskins, and that under interim head coach Bill Callahan, the rookie would be called upon to start.

According to Callahan, that will not be the case.

In his introductory press conference on Monday afternoon, Callahan said he is not ready to put Haskins in and he wants the first-round pick to better develop his game before he goes back in action, even against an 0-4 Miami Dolphins squad this week.

As it stands, that would make Haskins the third-string QB in Washington, sitting behind both Colt McCoy and Case Keenum. Callahan said that the decision on a starting quarterback has not yet been made for this week, as Keenum has been dealing with a foot injury and was listed as inactive for last week’s game against the New England Patriots.
