Bill Callahan can’t wait to see Adrian Peterson get in a rhythm

Washington Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan thinks the key to a turnaround rests on the shoulders of running back Adrian Peterson.

Peterson, over four appearances, has 108 yards on an average of just 2.7 yards per carry. But that came under the direction of Jay Gruden, now fired.

According to Ryan Fowler of the team’s official website, Callahan is still impressed with Peterson’s ability between the tackles and thinks he could get into a serious rhythm this weekend against the Miami Dolphins. He also only said “wow” when asked about Peterson’s performance last year.

A year ago, Peterson had 1,000-plus yards and seven touchdowns. Granted, the team didn’t win a ton of games last year over the season’s second half and the current line is already living life without Trent Williams.

Still, it isn’t hard to see why a line coach might be excited about running the ball more, for better or worse. And things might indeed get much better on the ground thanks to the sheer tank-worthy play of Miami.
