Bill Belichick siding with Ravens on major rule change proposal

As the NFL offseason continues, the New England Patriots are siding with the Baltimore Ravens on a major rule change, according to Pro Football Talk.

Bill Belichick is in favor of a recent rule change presented by the Ravens. In overtime, the team that would win the coin flip would pick a spot on the field where the ball would be placed to start the overtime period.

As far as the other team goes, they would choose whether to start the overtime on offense or defense.

It is an interesting proposal, as it could make for an intriguing overtime frame. A rule like this could certainly lend itself to theatrics.

With  the NFL looking for alternatives to their sudden death format, this could be a major change for the league. A vote on this rule will take place at the league meeting later this month. It will need 24 votes to pass. At the very least, we know where the New England Patriots stand on the potential change.
