Bill Belichick says the Redskins 28th-ranked offense is ‘very well-designed’

Ahead of the Washington Redskins unfortunately-timed matchup against the New England Patriots this weekend, members of the media were able to hold a conference call with opposing head coach, Bill Belichick, in order to talk about and preview the game.

On Tuesday morning, Coach Belichick —who is historically one of the greatest coaches ever, and widely regarded as a defensive mastermind — ended the call by saying something that might have surprised a few people.

Say again? While it might be hard to agree with Belichick after watching the Redskins put up just three points on Sunday, and only 18 points in the past two weeks, it’s also important to remember that the offense looked like it was rolling in the first two weeks. Through two games, Case Keenum had thrown for five touchdowns and zero interceptions with over 600 yards passing. That enough is proof that there is an opportunity for success there if the players can obtain it.

Maybe this is exactly what the Redskins needed to hear — the greatest NFL coach alive saying that he actually see what they’re trying to do. It worked on some reporters in the room.

We all likely know the outcome of Sunday’s game against the Patriots already, but maybe this vote of confidence from Belichick is enough to get them feeling better about their chances when preparing for the matchup. It can’t hurt.
