Bill Belichick has never been known for holding talkative, engaging press conferences. But following Sunday’s 28-22 loss to the Houston Texans, Belichick was in absolutely no mood to speak to reporters.
And the reporters weren’t exactly jumping at opportunities to ask questions for the Patriots head coach.
Belichick gave a 30-second opening statement at the podium where he said that the Texans performed better. When the Patriots head coach was done speaking, he stood there in silence. It was brutally awkward.
At the end of the press conference, Belichick waited in silence for 20 seconds before the Patriots PR staff urged the reporters to ask any last questions.
Every second of this press conference was uncomfortable.
Belichick wasn’t welcoming opportunities to elaborate on what unfolded in the loss, which probably played into the lack of questions at this presser. But still, that had to be the most cringe-worthy media session of the NFL season.
And of course it involved Belichick.
