Linda Holiday, Bill Belichick’s longstanding girlfriend, has announced she will be changing her Instagram to private on Wednesday.
The decision comes after she sparred with Instagram commenters who suggested Belichick drove away Tom Brady. Holiday responded by saying she was happy for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, and she added that he didn’t really score in the NFC divisional round, which wasn’t true. She clarified that she meant that, while he did score, those touchdowns were largely a product of good field position after his defense generated turnovers.
Here’s what Holiday said in what is likely to be her final public Instagram post.
“My account will be going private in the next few hours I am exhausted by the number of trolls and cruel people who have hammered my social media accounts recently. I’m not ’embarrassed’ by anything I’ve said. In fact, several news outlets understood what I meant about defensive TD’s and validated it. BUT, I am tired of trolls!! I’m not sure when it became ok to verbally abuse and harass people on social media. I look forward to staying connected with my personal friends.”
